The Triquetra – also known as the Trinity Knot – is one of the oldest Celtic designs. It appears in the ancient Book of Kells. We know it was important to the early Celtic and Norse pagans. It was during the Celtic Revival movement of the early 19th century when the Triquetra design became an important motif in art and fashion. That’s also when we begin to find literary references to the Irish Love Knot.
The Triquetra may appear to be very complicated, but it’s like love itself – a continuous journey of twists and turns! There are three points in the Triquetra. People who refer to it as the Trinity Knot often say the points represent the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
