I love how these new Ancient Traditions pendants turned out. They truly look like something that would have been made and used a millennium ago. I have paired them with the timeless and evocative symbols of the Elder Futhark runes, and the leaf of the oak tree, my favorite tree. Wearing one of these pendants feels like connecting with your ancient roots.
And — if you want to keep your rune message to yourself — then you can wear them with the oak-leaf facing outward.
Inguz is a really powerful rune, and very meaningful for me. It is the seed of creativity. The form I like to use is the one shown here — made of two Xs on top of each other, or, two arrows (> and <) coming together and intersecting in the center. When you are studying the runes, you will learn that there are multiple forms of Inguz. The more traditional Elder Futhark form looks like a diamond shape. When I started learning about the runes in the late 80s / early 90’s, there were not many readily available sources, so basically I learned it this way, and then it ended up working very well for me, becoming a personal rune with a lot of meaning for me. In fact, one of my very good friends and teachers brought me back an Ing slate directly from Denmark, with this newer form, which I cherish greatly. One thing I know about runes is we don’t know more than we know. Everything we use, especially in divination, is a hodge podge of multiple sources. I know my usage upsets some people, but it is hard to let go of emotional attachments.
How I Made These Pendants: To make this pendant, first I etched each rune onto birchwood. Then I used the wood rune pieces to create the pewter-casting mold. They have a natural & rustic finish, with a modern & timeless flair. They turned out really amazing, and you will love them.
