About Celtic knots and my Celtic turtle design-

Celtic knotwork patterns have been used for centuries as symbols of connection, protection, and good luck. And, let’s be honest, because they look awesome.

It was my friend Michelle (hi Michelle!) who requested a turtle design. As soon as she mentioned it, I had a clear concept of a turtle with a shield knot, which symbolizes protection, over the shell.  While creating this design, the important lesson I learned was that turtle was not going to be rushed.  What I thought was going to be a simple knot ended up being very complex and took me several iterations and many weeks to get right. The Turtle is a symbol of grounding and safety.

All CelticKnotWorks pieces are proudly handcrafted in the USA. This Celtic turtle is my original design, designed from scratch by me. I make these pendants in partnership with my family business, Deva Designs.
